The Asian Association of Women Studies (AAWS) Organizes its 4th AAWS Congress
The Asian Association of Women Studies (AAWS) will welcome a diverse line up of participants for its 4th Congress on 1-3 December 2016. The event follows the theme of “Engendering Citizenship in Asia” answering the call to broaden the discussion about nation and citizenship in the era of globalization as well as the challenges and opportunities brought to the marginalized sectors of the society. The aim of the congress is to examine the rise of a national and global citizenship that will holistically extend rights such as full social protections, welfare and self-determination to everyone.
Abstract submissions under the overarching theme and sub-theme topics on Reproductive Health/ Abortion, Female Migration, Victims of War, Theorizing Women in the 21st century or in development contexts, Trafficking, Linking the global and the domestic in struggles against gender based violence, Gender Division of Labor, Globalization, Rethinking Sustainable Development from Women’s Perspective, Sexual citizenship Asian citizenship, and Global citizenship, and Feminist Activism took place early this year with the final call ending on 30 June 2016 and the review process starting right after the deadline. Prospective participants will be informed of the review results through an acceptance letter sent via email.
The 4th AAWS Congress will be hosted for the first time in Hanoi, Vietnam at Thang Long University with a registration fee of 100 USD. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org
